The WFDYS is pleased to announce that we have established an internship program with Gallaudet University's Center for International Programs and Services (CIPS), through the efforts of Melissa Malzkuhn, WFDYS Secretary, who works at Gallaudet.
We are glad to welcome Jonathan McMillan, a recent graduate of Gallaudet University, with double bachelor degrees in Sociology and Communications, to be our first intern under this program.
Jonathan's internship experience started right in Washington D.C., from January 2010 to May 2010, then he went to Helsinki, Finland, to work at the WFD office. He is currently stationed there, enjoying the Scandinavia experience, and at the same time learning how the WFD works along with their long-time secretary, Phillipa Sandholm.
Jonathan will return to the United States in July to attend the Deaf Youth USA camp to share his experience with the WFD and WFDYS. Then, he will fly to Margarita Island, Venezuela, where his internship will come to an end, with the children camp. Jonathan will assist the camp organising committee and the WFDYS board.
In Jonathan's words, "This internship experience is beyond incredible. I have learned so much and it is more of a life-defining experience in what I want to do next."
We look forward in continuing this wonderful internship program. Please contact Melissa Malzkuhn, Secretary, if you are interested.
